Gruissan last hosted a Vuelta finish in 2017, when Yves Lampaert ambushed the sprinters in the wind. The first summit finish of the race at altitude, the first opportunity for climbers to take time.
Stage 4 - Andorra Loop (104.9km)

Only 104.9km, but 3,009m of climbing and the first Vuelta stage ever to start and finish in Andorra la Vella. The category 1 Collada de Beixalis and Coll d'Ordino come back-to-back with 25km left, and with Tadej Pogačar on the start list this is where the GC could crack inside four days.
This is where Pogačar will test the field for the first time in anger. If he attacks on either of the two Cat 1 climbs in the finale, only the strongest contenders survive with the front group. GC time gaps can open significantly on Day 4.
Stage 7 - Vall d'Alba to Aramón Valdelinares (149.9km)
Short, sharp and stacked with 3,572m of climbing to a genuine summit finish. The first day the overall favourites can't hide on Spanish roads.
Stage 9 - Alto de Aitana

Stage 18 - Jerez TT (32.5km)

Stage 21 - Granada Alhambra Circuit
