The world's largest esports event just got bigger, bolder, and unexpectedly Parisian.
The 2026 Esports World Cup was planned for Riyadh, as it had been for both prior editions and both editions of Gamers8 before it. On 14 May, with less than 50 days until the opening match, the Esports Foundation confirmed the event was moving to Paris. The reason: the 2026 Iran war, which had already disrupted Saudi infrastructure and forced the Saudi Arabian Formula One Grand Prix to be cancelled. The games, the money, and the schedule stayed exactly the same. Only the city changed.
It will take place in Paris, France from 6 July to 23 August 2026 and is set to feature 25 events in 24 esports. The total prize pool: $75 million, a new all-time record for a single esports event.
The Club Championship winner takes $7 million. Based on 2025 results, Team Falcons, Team Vitality, and Team Liquid are the three clubs most likely to compete for the overall title.

The relocation from Riyadh to Paris is the biggest pre-tournament story of EWC 2026, and it carries real analytical weight for certain titles.
The move was cited as a response to uncertainty in the Middle East region due to the 2026 Iran war, which has seen Iran and its allies attack Saudi infrastructure.
Paris brings a different crowd dynamic than Riyadh. The EWC in Saudi Arabia had a reputation for passionate but specifically curated atmospheres, EWC-run events in multiple dedicated arenas inside Boulevard City. Paris Expo Porte de Versailles is a European convention-centre-style venue that has hosted major esports events before, including the 2019 League of Legends World Championship final and the 2023 BLAST.tv Paris CS2 Major.
European fans travelling to Paris for CS2, Valorant, and LoL tournaments will be significantly more numerous than they were in Riyadh. European teams playing in front of European home crowds at a major Paris venue is a crowd advantage that doesn't exist in Saudi Arabia. For match-level betting, keep the home crowd factor in mind for European teams in the CS2, Valorant, and Rainbow Six Siege tournaments specifically.

The Club Championship prize pool distribution rewards consistency across the entire seven-week festival, meaning the final Club Championship result isn't known until the CS2 tournament closes on August 23.
The Club Championship is the defining feature that separates EWC from every other esports event in the world. It's a $30 million cross-game competition that runs in parallel with every individual tournament throughout the seven weeks.
How points work: Clubs earn points based on their finishing position in each Club Championship-eligible tournament. A first-place finish earns the most points; top-8 finishes earn varying points; finishing outside the top 8 earns nothing.
The win condition: To be eligible for the Club Championship title, a club must:
This means a team that finishes second in every game but wins nothing cannot win the Club Championship even if they lead the standings, another team with at least one title and fewer overall points takes priority.
Roster lock rules (new in 2026): Players had to be publicly announced before April 30 and registered by May 25 to earn Club Championship points. Players signed or announced after those deadlines can still compete at EWC but earn no Club Championship points. This prevents last-minute signings purely for points accumulation, a practice that created controversy in 2025.
Team Falcons, Team Vitality, and Team Liquid – who finished first, second, and third in 2025 – enter 2026 as the frontrunners.
Team Falcons are Saudi Arabia's flagship esports organization and the only team to have won the Club Championship, having done so in both 2024 and 2025. Their ability to field competitive rosters across multiple games simultaneously, from PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends through to Dota 2 and CS2, creates a breadth of coverage that most European or North American organizations cannot match.
The case against Falcons: The Dota 2 outright market places Falcons at 7.50, not among the EWC Dota 2 favourites. Their CS2 squad's 2026 results will be critical for Club Championship points in the final week.
Team Vitality's Club Championship hopes rest disproportionately on their CS2 program, which has been the dominant force in professional Counter-Strike in 2025-2026. With the CS2 tournament running last (August 12-23), Vitality can either end the festival by crushing the Club Championship or be in the awkward position of needing a win they can't guarantee.
Their presence across multiple titles makes them the most credible European Club Championship challenger.
Team Liquid have one of the broadest competitive footprints in esports, fielding rosters across CS2, Valorant, League of Legends, PUBG, and more. Their 2025 third-place Club Championship finish came from consistently placing across many games rather than dominating any single title. At EWC 2026 Dota 2, Liquid are priced at 30.00, outside the contenders, but their overall points accumulation strategy doesn't require Dota 2 excellence.

Dota 2 opens the Esports World Cup festival and runs July 7-19 with 24 teams competing for a $2 million prize pool across a group stage and playoff bracket.
Why Dota 2 matters for Club Championship: As the first tournament, Dota 2 sets the tone for the Club Championship leaderboard. A team that goes deep in Dota 2 immediately banks Club Championship points and gains momentum heading into the festival's remaining weeks.

Team Spirit - Defending Champion (6.30): Team Spirit head into Dota 2 at EWC 2026 as the team to beat after their dominant 2025 showing, a 3–0 sweep of Team Falcons in the grand final where they dropped just a single game across the entire tournament. Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov picked up the MVP award for that run.
Their opening match against MOUZ at 1.45 reflects the market's confidence in Spirit's group stage dominance. At 6.30 for the tournament, Spirit is the clear pick for bettors who believe the defending champion's structural quality should translate directly to a second consecutive title.
Team Yandex (5.80 - joint favourite): A relatively new name in top-tier Dota 2, Team Yandex's joint-favourite pricing alongside PARIVISION suggests excellent recent qualification and pre-tournament form. Their opening match against Team OG at 1.68 reflects clear favourite status.
PARIVISION (5.80 - joint favourite): Joint-favourite alongside Yandex. Esports World Cup 2026 serves as the final championship of the fourth season of the ESL Pro Tour, and PARIVISION's ESL Pro Tour season form has established them as one of the pre-tournament favourites. Opening match: PARIVISION vs Team Nemesis (PARIVISION at W2: 1.25, an overwhelming first-round favourite).
Team Falcons (7.50) Falcons' Dota 2 squad faces an uphill battle against the dominant ESL Pro Tour teams. Their opening match against BetBoom Team (a near-even 3.30/2.05/3.30 three-way market) reflects close competitive parity.
CS2 closes the festival with 32 clubs competing for $2 million. Last year's title went to The MongolZ, who swept Aurora Gaming 3–0 across Mirage, Dust2, and Nuke. Techno walked away with the tournament MVP after a standout run through the bracket.
The MongolZ (defending) and Team Vitality (dominant in CS2 2025-2026) will be the headline CS2 storylines. With CS2 being the final tournament, a Vitality win would potentially shift the entire Club Championship, making it the single highest-stakes match of the seven-week festival from a Club Championship perspective.
CS2 match and winner markets will open on Duelbits as the August 12 start date approaches. Check Duelbits Esports → CS2 for all EWC CS2 markets.

Sixteen clubs compete in a four-day Valorant championship for $2 million. The compact format creates high variance, a single bad series can eliminate a title contender in days.
Team Vitality, NRG Esports, and the top VCT franchises are the expected headliners. Valorant markets will open on Duelbits under Esports → Valorant as July 9 approaches.
LoL at EWC 2026 drew 7.98 million peak concurrent viewers at the 2025 edition, the most-watched single moment of last year's entire festival. T1 and BLG are the expected headline names given their MSI 2026 joint-favouritism.

Fortnite returns (Fortnite Reload mode under a three-year deal with Epic Games). With the game's massive casual and competitive audience globally, Fortnite brings the largest non-core-esports viewership to EWC's prize pool. Its $2.5 million individual prize pool makes it one of the higher-value single-game events of the seven weeks.
Trackmania debuts: the time-based racing competition replaces Rennsport. A niche market in the esports ecosystem but potentially interesting for betting once Duelbits adds markets as the tournament approaches.
StarCraft II is absent: a loss felt strongly in the RTS community, but strategically minor for the EWC's primary CS2/Dota 2/Valorant/LoL betting audience.
Chess returns: $1.5 million prize pool with Magnus Carlsen as EWC's official chess ambassador.
